Some wines from October 2013


2010 Maximin Grünhaus Abstberg Riesling Spätlese:
Pale lemon yellow. Apples, nuanced and elegant nose, ever so slightly floral, subdued minerals, lovely. Fresh acidity, elegant, subdued, nuanced, refined, long. 91

Jacques Selosse Initial Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru:
Deg. 15.01.13. Towards golden, tiny bubbles. Apples, minerals, yeasty, rounder and somewaht richer nose, barrel notes, toasted. Fresh acidity, elegant mousse, rounded and almost velvety, creamy, crisper palate, refreshing and lively, long. 92

1993 Joh. Jos. Christoffel Jr. Erdener Prälat Riesling Auslese***:
Towards lemon yellow, pale for it's age. Diesel notes, apples, inerals with more air. Fresh acidity, rounded, elegant texture, fruity, could be more nuanced, good length. 89



1995 Vieux Château Certan:
Ruby, thin brick rim, decanted for six hours. Floral, scented, nuanced, red and blueberries, refreshing and gorgeous nose. Seductive. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fruity, lively, elegant palate, refreshing, lovely balance, lovely. Long 94

2001 Château Pontet-Canet:
Ruby. Youthful, cassis, some vanilla, dark berries, touch of anise and leather far back on the nose. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, rounding off, slowly maturing, not much have happened since last bottle, but feels purer, long. 93



1970 Château Ducru Beaucaillou:
Ruby, garnet rim. Scented, leather, figs, cassis, floral, elegant nose, almost exotic, superb nose. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, polishing off, fruity still, younger than expected, but ever so slightly drying in the finish long. 92

1989 Château Léoville Poyferré:
Ruby, thin garnet rim. Scented, cassis, some leather and tobacco, flirting nose. Intense with more air. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, tight for '89 even with air, fruity, refreshing, long finish. 93

2009 Domaine les Terres de Fagayra Maury Fagayra Blanc:
3500 bottles made. Pale lemon yellow. Ripe apples and yellow fruits with subdued minerals on the nose, slight wax touch. Fresh acidity, minerals, elegant and quite refreshing, gets more honey and waxy with air, but never too much, long. 90

1989 Château Rieussec:
Golden. Rich nose, honey, apricots, vanilla, creme brulée, pineapples, intense nose. Fresh acidity, fruity, rich, fairly refreshing for Rieussec and the vintage, quite intense, slight burnt caramel note in the finish, long. 92

2006 Béres Tokaji Aszú 5 Puttonyos:
Golden. Vanilla, apricots, botrytis, honey, intense nose, some acetone. Fresh acidity, lively and playful, refreshing, elegant and fruity, long and playful finish. 89

1958 D'Oliveiras Boal Reserva:
Amber, golden rim. Nuts, raisins, dried fruits and caramel notes, slightly burnt note. High acidity, leaner palate, acidic, bottle have been open a long time, lacks a bit of fruit compared to last bottle, long and again slightly burnt. 88


2005 Niepoort Batuta:
Deep ruby. Dark berries, exotic spices, vanilla, and some deeper notes, quite intense nose. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fruity, fresh and intense, rounded body, rich, long finish. 92
