Pommard and more from February 2016


2011 Fernand et Laurent Pillot Pommard Tavannes
Bright ruby, red berries, light scented note, touch of anise on the nose. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, elegant fruit, fresh, lively, red berries, some cherries towards the finish, anise again. Slight bitter note in the finish. Good length. 87

2010 Montchovet Pommard
Bright ruby. Starts out with a slightly dusty woody note that blows off after half an hour in decanter. Still spicy, red fruits and some anise. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fruity, dark berries, some spices, quite juicy, fresh, good length. 89

2011 Fernand et Laurent Pillot Pommard 1er Cru Rugiens
Bright ruby. Red berries, some vanilla, spices and anise nose, opening up with air but never looses the barrel notes. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, red berries, light cherry note, again spices, slightly dry and woody finish. Needs some years in the cellar. 89

2004 Jadot Pommard 1er Cru Rugiens
Pale red. Bit tight nose that opens up with air, getting light floral notes and quite red berries scented with air. Some vanilla notes far back. Never that up front. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fresh, lively, fruity, quite playful and elegant, almost mouthwatering, maturing nicely, on the leaner side with some red currants and cherries, but hardly green. Long. 90
515 Pommard

Pommard beliggende rett syd for Beaune i Burgund lager gjerne en fyldigere og mer kjøttfull stil. Vinmarkene har en rekke soleksponeringer, mot nord, mot sør og alle aspekter i mellom disse to mot øst, samt delvis mot vest lengst inne i dalen som strekker seg vestover fra landsbyen Pommard. Første klassifisering i 1860, men i 1936 først ble AOC Pommard etablert. Gjennomsnittstemperaturen i pommard gjennom et år er rundt 10,5 grader. 90.000 flasker Pommard 1er Cru lages per år.

Rugiens er i dag 1er Cru men man prøver å få godkjent vinmarken(e) som Grand Cru. Man forsøker det samme på nordsiden av Pommard med deler av Epenotsvinmarkene. En av grunnene til at det ikke er Grand Cru allerede i Pommard, var at negociantene i området ikke ønsket dette i 1936 av frykt for høye priser på druene/vinene de skulle kjøpe. Selv om vinene de senere årene har blitt lettere, mer florale og brilliante i utrykket, her som i resten av Burgund, har man fortsatt en tydelig struktur og tydelige tanniner.

Vineyard below Les Grands Epenots. Ruby. Red berries, fruity, some spices, somewhat heavier nose, tight. Gets some mint notes with more air. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fresh, fruity, some spices, liquorice and red berries, elegant finish. 89

2011 Jadot Pommard 1er Cru Clos de la Commaraine
Bright ruby. Some herbs, tighter, red berries, cherries, light nettles note, light scented note. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fresh, fruity, cherries and raspberries, elegant fruit mid palate before a firmer finish. Keep five to ten more years or lots of air. Long. 90

2011 Jean-Marc Boillot Pommard 1er Cru Les Jarolieres
Ruby. Scented, red berries, fruity nose, lighter, elegant minerality beneath. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fresh, fruity, lively, elegant fruit and texture, fine minerality beneath, long. 92
Boillot gjennomfører ikke racking eller pomper over most, vinen ligger på bunnfallet i fatene med minst mulig forstyrrelser. Fra 65 år gamle vinstokker.

2011 Drouhin Pommard 1er Cru Rugiens
Ruby. Tight, very closed, some scented notes, vanilla and spices, red fruits. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fruity, red berries, some spices and a touch of darker fruits, tight, needs a lot of air or rather cellaring. Only 20 percent new wood, but quite toasted. 93

2008 Lejeune Pommard 1er Cru Les Argillieres
Ruby, thin garnet rim. Red berries, touch floral and starting sous bois, some anise, quite charming nose. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fruity, juicy, structured, elegant raspberries, fresh and lively, long. Not destemmed. 92349 Altia
