Towards lemon yellow. Some nuts, spices, apples, light peach note, cardamum nose. Fresh acidity, fresh, fruity, lively and intense lemons, mouthwatering, long. 92

1998 Ostertag Fronholz Riesling
Pale golden. First Biodynamic vintage at Ostertag, some honey, petroleum, floral, peach, pears, minerals and a slight nutty note. Fresh acidity, rounded and richer, fruity, apricots, minerals, sligjt flinty note, long. 91

1988 Ostertag Fronholz Riesling
Towards lemon yellow. First non filtering and not fined vintage. Towards lemon yellow. Nuts, minerals, slight iron note, peach and pears. Fresh acidity, lively, fresh, minerals, fairly focused, leaner, little bit tight, good length. 89

2008 Ostertag Riesling Muenchberg Grand Cru
Towards lemon yellow. Minerals, slight flinty note, apples, detailed, sligjt yellow fruit note, detailed. Fresh aciditu, fruity, lively, fresh and detailed,elegant, refined, fresh and long. 92

1998 Ostertag Riesling Muenchberg Grand Cru
Lemon yellow. Floral, lilies, peach, botrytis note, bergamot, canned pears, fruity and spicy, detailed and layered nose. Fresh acidity, ripe, fruity and detailed, layered, elegant, nuanced and long. 93

1988 Ostertag Riesling Muenchberg Grand Cru
Lemon yellow. Minerals, apples, cinamon, pears, floral, white lilies, detailed nose. Fresh acidity, lively, fresh and detailed, elegant and refreshing, fairly focused, detailed and long finish. 90

2007 Ostertag Riesling Muenchberg Grand Cru Vendanges Tardives
Pale golden. Light black tea note over apricots,aplles, lemons and grapefruits. Refined and nuanced. Fresh acidity, fruity, elegant and lively, detailed and nuanced, perfect balance, long. 92

1990 Ostertag Riesling Muenchberg Grand Cru Sélection de Grains Nobles
Only 550 liters made (and only about 350 liters in 1989, the only two vintages of SdGN made at Ostertag since 1980) Golden. Botrytis, rich, intense, for the first few minutes it resembled 1986 Yquem but the first intensity gave way for more delicate and subtle nuances, light spicy note, peach, cinamon, detailed and layered. Fresh acidity, lively and nuanced, delicate and mouthwatering, superb balance, playful, stunning, exceptional length, out of this world. 97

Christer has over 23 years of experience in wine, took WSET Level 2 in 2003, WSET Level 3 in 2005 and finished WSET Level 4 Diploma in 2011. Christer has worked for the Norwegian Vinmonopolet and for wine importers as product manager and in sales before becoming a wine critic. Christer has for years been an international wine judge. Scores and ratings, what do they mean?

Wines are scored for quality and quality only. For the bottle or sample that is tasted there and then, as that one is. Not peer group. Peer group tastings in my opinion make wines from lesser grapes or areas seem to be better than they actually are as the benchmark is lower, and most peer group tasters tend not to rate a wine perfectly within the group either, which makes it all a bit strange. I can't remember ever to have seen a rosé wine getting a perfect score as an example. Then it's not a true peer group taster in my opinion. Peer group tasting also make the truly great wines seem less great as something else regularly get similar scores even if the quality of the two is miles apart.

96-100 Great wine of spellbinding beauty and resonance, leaving the drinker with a sense of wonder

90-95 Outstanding wine of great beauty and articulacy

86-89 Very good wine with some outstanding features

83-85 Good wwine with no outstanding features

80-82Enjoyable but simple and straightforward

75-80 Sound but dull or boring wine with no character or appeal

Wines marked below this level will not be written about on this blogg, and should it happen, it won't be impressive anyway.

Some wines are more for competitions and to impress certain wine writers, so here is my view on a wines drinkability. if you are a human.
