Pale lemon yellow, tiny bubbles. Fresh and youthful nose, some
brioche, apples and minerals, fairly focused nose. Fresh acidity, lean
but elegant mousse, fruity, elegant, nice balance, long. 90
1985 Charles Heidsieck Blanc des Millenaires:
Towards golden, tiny bubbles. Maturing nose of oxidized apples,
brioche, yeast, minerals, deep and intense. Fresh acidity, almost sharp,
rounded mousse, not too fruity but intense flavours, lovely balance,
some burnt nuts, long. A more evolved bottle than the last two. 94
2012 Schätzel Nierstein Pettenthal Riesling:
Pale lemon yellow. Apples, fruity, some minerals, slight vegetal
touch. Wax note. Fairly fresh acidity, fruity, quite dry, minerals,
lean but long finish. 90
2011 Massolino Langhe Chardonnay:
Pale golden. Fruity, nutty, tropical, rich, slightly alcoholic
nose. Wax. Freshish acidity, fruity, again a bit alcoholic, good length,
warm finish. Slightly unbalanced.77
2007 Copain Tous Ensemble Anderson Valley Pinot Noir:
Ruby. Slightly warm nose, fruity, scented, strawberry jam.
Spicy. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fruity, slightly warm, leanish,
lacks a bit, a bit warm finish, elegant undertones. 87
2006 Niepoort Projectos Pinot Noir:
Ruby. Figs, earthy, leafy but also slightly herbal. Quite fresh acidity, low tannins, almost creamy texture, good length. 89
2007 Gere Solus Villanyi Merlot:
Deep ruby, garnet rim. Scented, intense, ripe, sweet, spicy,
blueberries and liquorice. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fruity, leaner
palate, slightly dry on the palate, a bit rough, good length. 86
1988 Giacomo Bologno Bricco dell'Uccellone:
Ruby, garnet rim. Figs, dust, mature nose, a bit dry. Fresh
acidity, a bit on stilts, drying tannins, liquorice, a bit dry, good
length. Tiering. 83

Ruby, garnet rim. Dusty, figs, liquorice nose. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, lean, lacks complexity, , good length. 85

Ruby, thin garnet rim. Tar, roses, violets, ever so slight of
VA. Fresh and high acidity, ripe tannins, a bit dry, but has a elegance
to it even so. Good length. 88
1985 Château Haut-Bailly:
Ruby, garnet rim. Scented, liquorice, complex, layered, graphite
minerality, cigars, elegant and complex nose. Layered. Fresh acidity,
ripe tannins, fruity, elegant, superb balance, again layered and
complex, long, silky. 94
2000 Oremus 6 Puttonyos:
Golden. Peach, apricots, passion fruit. So pure, refined and
elegant nose. Fresh acidity, lively, fruity and intense, playful and
refined, superb elegance, long and again lively. Pure all the way. 95
2001 Ornelaia
(Magnum) Deep ruby. Fruity, intense, cassis, plums touch, needs
air to open, nuanced, some vanilla, scented and a hint of cigars. Ever
so slight herbal note. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fruity, biting
tannins, gripping even, young still, long. 92
2006 Château Haut-Monplaisir Prestige: (Cahors)
Opaque. Rich, fruity but with a vegetal note beneath. Sweet and
liquorice. Lazyish acidity, ripe tannins, fruity, a bit alcoholic and
warm, good length. Fruity but a bit simple. 86
2008 Château Haut-Bailly:
Tried from three different glasses, quite a different
experience. In Riedel Vinum Chianti, scented, fruity, cassis, some
minerals, quite intense and nuanced. In the Riedel Vinum Bordeaux it
seems more subdued on all notes and in Zalto Universal it's just so
fruity, but no nuances. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, ever so slightly
lean, minerals, cassis and a slight herbal note, long. Rest of the note
from Riedel Vinum Chianti. 92
