2019 Luis Seabra Quinta de Adorigo Douro Branco

Straw yellow. Rich nose of yellow fruits, floral, intense, some flor notes. Fresh acidity, fruit driven, peach, honey, pears, long. Different style than what you expect from Douro. 90

 

1893 Mathilde Henriques Terrantez Campanario

Amber with green gold rim. 24 bottles only, bottled from a demijohn, bottled in February 2024. Mathilde Henriques was the grandmother or great grandmother of todays owners of Barbeito, as far as I have understood. Rich, intense, almonds, citrus and caramel, passion fruits, dried apricots, volatile notes. Fresh acidity, dried fruits, anise, spices, detailed, intense, layered, long. Something I for sure will never taste again. Served blind by the owners of O'Goveto who held an amazing Madeira tasting just a fews days earlier, and kindly let our table taste a little bit left behind. Narrower. 95

 

1863 Barbeito Bual

Amber with green gold rim. Dried fruits, almonds, intense, dried apricots nose, spices. Fresh acidity, intense, detailed, layered, intense, caramel, detailed, rich and smoky finish, long. Also at O'Goveto, janother left over from the large old Madeira tasting days before, ust a little large sip left in the bottle, but just enough for a tasting note. Thank you! 94
