Ruby, lots of sediments. Dark fruits, minty, After Eight, nuanced, detailed, intense, rich, minerals nose. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, blackberries, nuanced, minerals, superbly balanced, has a delicazy that is unusual for Port, lovely! Long, refined and gentle, and pure. 94
2020 Quinta da Boavista Grande Reserva Branco
Pale lemon yellow. Apples, some yellow fruits, minerals, fruit forward nose. Fresh acidity, apples, yellow fruits, smooth, rounded, elegant texture, long. 91
2013 Cartuxa Pêra-Manca Tinto
Deep ruby. Rich, sweet, alcoholic, fruit forward, rich nose, dense. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, dark fruits, liquorice, intense, rich, dense, alcoholic and lots of wood. Massive and not really my style. 91
2015 Couvent des Jacobins Calicem
Ruby. Cassis, blueberries, fruit forward, scented and detailed nose, spices and vanilla. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, red berries, darker fuits, some vanilla and spices, nuanced, juicy, elegant texture, long. 100% Merlot. 93
2013 Niepoort Clos de Crappe
Somewhat cloudy ruby with thin brick rim. Dusty, dried fruits, leaner nose, very mature. Fresh acidity, tannins nearly gone, leaner dried out. Rose hips, lean finish. 82
2008 Wynns Coonawarra Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon
Ruby. Cassis, blackberries, dark fruits, liquorice, fruit driven, nuanced, some minty notes nose, layered.Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, dark fruits, anise, liquorice, detailed, nuanced, intense, long. 93
2005 Niepoort Vintage Port
Ruby. Blackberries, dark fruits, anise, spices, blueberries, and quite aparent alcohol. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, red berries, dark fruits, liquorice, anise, quite high alcohol, gives a burning sensation from mid palate to the finish. Had another leaner bottle a month or so back, also surprisingly lean, but not that alcohol warmth on it. From to different cellars, even in two different countries. 2019 Dalva Vintage Port Pure Organic
Ruby. Blackberries, spices, dark fruits and liquorice nose, some exotic spices. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, juicy, dark fruits, leaner, forest berrires, herbs, garrique notes, long. 91
