Egon Müller, Rubicon, Opus One and Palmer

2003 Egon Müller Scharzhofberger Riesling Spätlese;
Pale golden, exotic fruits, apples, pineapple, minerals, apricots. Very refined and even manages to have good acidity which I find a bit rare in 03's, even in Mosel. Long length. 88

2001 Niebaum-Copploa Rubicon, Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon;
Dark ruby, blackcurrants and bell pepper with tobacco, coffee and some vanilla. Great structure, ripe tannins and good acidity, very elegant and balanced, and long length. Drink or keep. 91

2002 Opus One;
Dark ruby, ruby rim. Some wet earth underneath, lots of blackcurrants, bell peppers, cigars, coffee and chocolate. Intence and elegant at the same time. Complex and balanced with good acidity and ripe big tannins. Long length. 91

2001 Chateau Palmer;
Dark ruby, elegant, cedar, cigar, blackcurrants, violets and floral notes and some minerals in the back. Nice acidity, ripe tannins, extremely elegant, and almost tender. A bit short finish, but probably more because of youth than quality. 90
