A. Lalande bottling, mid shoulder fill, rotten cork. Deep ruby,
thin orange rim. Starting out coffe and some figs nose, anise, violets,
cedar and tobacco nose. Fresh acidity, few tannins, bit lean, very anise
palate, ads a bit with air, gets rounder, never stunning, good length.

1995 Comte de Vogüe Bonnes Mares:
Bright ruby. Strawberries and tight nose that needed an hour in
decanter to even start to open a bit. Ever so slightly floral note,
quite seductive, but always as firm as an athlets but. Fresh and tight
acidity, ripe tannins, bit lean, fruity, very unripe strawberries
palate, tight, long. 93-94
1989 Château Calon-Ségur:
Fill 3mm below cork. Subdued first, scented, elegant, cigars,
nuanced, cassis, layered nose. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, again
subdued, seductive and flirting like few, absolutely gorgeous, long. 95
1982 Château La Conseillante:
Bottom neck fill, soaked cork. Ruby, garnet rim. Scented,
fruity, blueberries, chocolate, cigars, some prunes, layered and indeed
complex, intense, leaps out of the glass, superb nose. Fresh acidity,
ripe tannins, elegant, fruity and lively, waves upon waves, truly long
aftertaste, bit more texture than last bottle and not quite as nuanced,
but absulutely stunning. 97
