Pale lemon yellow. Marzipan, apples, lemons, some floral notes and light yellow fruity note. Fresh acidity, lemons, fresh, fruity, has some sweet notes, oak, vanilla, somewhat hollow, long. 92

Served blind. Ruby, thin garnet rim, sediments. Cassis, leather, tobacco, scented, intense, dark, deeper, cedar, layered, almost massive nose, heavy, leaps out of the glass. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, intense, ripe, fresh, fruity, intense, dark fruits, ripe, layered, nuanced, playful and very long. I was on 86 Gruaud Larose or Talbot. 94

1980 Château Latour
Served blind. Ruby, garnet rim. Tobacco, cedar, cassis, some figs, lightly floral, anise and leather nose, detailed and elegant. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fruity if leaner, detailed, elegant, cassis and anise, detailed, elegant, lively, rounded, lovely details and lovely balance, beautiful wine, long and graceful. 95

2004 Domaine Leroy Vosne-Romanée
Served blind. Cloudy garnet. Red berries, raspberries, leaner, somewhat underripe, red-currants, some spices, quite intense. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, concentrated, playful, cool, fresh, detailed, lively, long. One of my best bottles with answer in hand. Managed vintage, producer and wine after a short stop at Fourier. 95

2011 Le Gallais Wiltinger Braune Kupp Riesling Spätlese
Pale lemon yellow. Green apples, fruity, light minerals and citrus nose. Fresh acidity, lighter, fruity, fresh, leaner, some apples and minerals, light bitter note. 89

1990 Château Musar
Brightish ruby, garnet rim. Tar, roses, faint exotic note, some VA, anise, red berries, cherries, floral and scented. Medicinal. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, VA, leaner, fresh and lively, red berries, playful, long. 90

1999 Scarpa Monferrato Freisa La Selva di Moirano
Ruby. Rich, fruity, juicy, jammy and blackberries nose. Cooked plums and liquorice. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, jammy, fruity, lively acidity, juicy, bit all over the place, tannic finish. Rich and also refreshing, even playful. What it lacks in refinement it ads back on freshness. Verging on vulgar, long. 93

1989 Château Léoville Las Cases
Deep ruby. Decanted for two hours, and it's not nearly enough, yet again. Dark fruits, cassis, leather, exotic notes, some vanilla still, layered detailed and nuanced, rich but also holding back. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fruity, ripe, detailed, playful, ripe, intense, layered, nuanced, lively, long. 95-96

2004 August Clape Cornas
Ruby, garnet rim. Scented, tobacco, chocolate, sweet fruits, dark fruits, some spicy notes, youthful nose. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, sweet, ripe and fruity, but also leaner and narrower, firm structure, long. 93

2004 Massolino Barolo Vigna Rionda
Ruby, very thin garnet rim. Sweet fruits, juicy, rich, some, some alcohol, dark and deep, anise, mint. Fresh acidity, lively, playful, rich, intense, playful, dark fruits, tannic structure, loads of tannins, sweet, not fully together, some alcohol shows through, long and somewhat warm finish. 91-93

2005 Château Rayne Vigneau
Pale golden. Apricots, fruity, pineapples, some vanilla, quite pure expression. Fresh acidity, fruity, rounded, fresh, playful, detailed, lively, nuanced, pure, apricots and pineapples, long, nuanced, delicate, just a faint bitter note in finish. 94

1983 Weingut St. johannishof Dr. Loosen Peter Loosen Erben Erdener Trepchen Riesling Auslese
Served blind. Pale golden. Apples, cooked pears, some cinnamon, apricots, pure honey, some lemons, faint lilies and jasmine note. Fresh acidity, seamless but lacks a bit of fruit to balance it fully, if picky. I had it ten years ago and actually nailed it, whats the odds of that, long. 94

1983 Kloster Machern Wehlener Abtei Riesling Eiswein
Pale amber. Nuts, some petroleum, dried apricots, touch of cinnamon, subdued nose. Fresh acidity, playful, lively, raisins, pure apples, detailed, nuanced, some nuts, playful, long. 93

2010 Elio Altare Barolo
Ruby. Vanilla, alcohol, ripe red berries, liquorice, some leather, cherries and anise. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, vanilla, oaky, fruity, sweet, warm and alcoholic finish, for me not fully balanced. 89

2013 Vylyan Villanyi Pinot Noir
Served blind. Bright ruby. Red berries, light raspberries note, some vanilla and spices, fresh, floral and lighter nose. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, bit raw and far to young, or at least too little air, lots of wood, maybe not fruit to handle oak and structure. 86
