2003 Henri Boillot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Caillerets:

Pale lemon yellow. Started out slightly funky and mushroomy with heavy waxy notes. After thirty minutes, lemons, slight floral touch, minerals and some butter on the nose. Fresh acidity for the vintage, slightly smoky touch, flinty, elegant and lovely balance, slightly narrow finish. 92

2008 Christophe Roumier Ruchottes-Chambertin:
Another blind. Bright ruby, thin garnet rim. Scented, floral, strawberries, floral, ever so slightly spicy, another gorgeous nose. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, slight roughness to the texture, but more because of it's youthfullness.   Lively, pure, elegant fruit, long. Lacks a little bit to be refined, at least at first. 94

1998 Krug Clos du Mesnil

1998 Krug, Clos du Mesnil;
Straw yellow, tiny bubbles. Very elegant nose, more tender than the Krug Vintage, apples, pear, melon, some oak, plaster, minerals, touch of menthol, very complex. Light and caressing, then almost exploding in all different kind of fascets, increadible balance, very consentrated, yet, so elegant and tender, very elegant mousse, lots of minerality, lemon and apples in the long finish. Amazing balance between power, finesse and elegance. 98

Dinner at La Villa Joya, Algarve

For everyone that is going even close to Algarve, Portugal, this restaurant is a must to stop by. Absolutelly fantastic food, location and service, what a treat.

1988 Krug Vintage;
Pale golden, very elegant bubbles. Very fresh and youthfull, some plaster, apples, brioch, toast. Such elegance, soperb balance, can't even tell the age, great acidity, some oxidized apples, minerals, great mousse, very fresh acidity, probably the youngest 88 bottle I have tasted, maybe of any wine. 95

1990 Nicolaihof Riesling Smaragd;
Deep straw yellow, fresh, mature riesling, minerals, apples, petroleum, citrus, some oxidized apples. Great and fresh acidity, great complexity, well balanced, beautifull now, and will develop further, very long finish. 90

1985 Nicolas Potel, Puligny Montrachet Les Combettes;
Pale golden yellow, smoke, flint, intence of minerals, butter and nuts. Elegant and complex, fresh acidity, very livelly with the minerality, very long finish. Decanted for 30 minutes. 90

1982 Nicolas Potel, Puligny Montrachet Les Combettes;
Lemon yellow, more mature than the 85, a bit less intencity, especially on the mineral side, needs a lot of time to open, this bottle also decanted for 30 minutes, takes 40 minutes to start to open, more fragile and tender than the 85, but very much the same flavours and aromas, more elegant, very long finish. 89

2004 Torre do Esporao;
Only about 1000 bottles made per year. Deep ruby, thin pink rim. Vanilla, eukalyptus, extremelly complex, lots of concentration, violets, roses, liquorice and Mediteranian spices. Great balance, 14,5 % alcohol, you don't even notice it, very long finish. 90

5 Krug's

1996 Krug Vintage;
Straw yellow, elegant bubbles. Biscquits, toast, minerals, oxidized apples and apple stones, chalk and some wet plaster. Very fresh and elegant mousse, comes in waves through the mouth, complex, extremely long finish. Keep another ten years or more. 97

1995 Krug Vintage;
Straw yellow, elegant bubbles, more closed, citrus, fresh and less toast, some apples, minerals, plaster, a somehow leaner 96, with less of everything, flavours, complexity, but maybe not elegance. But, the 96 is truly hard to beat, long finish. 95

1990 Krug Vintage;
Light golden and small bubbles. Oxidized apples, quite developed, lots of secondary aromas, very elegant, complex and balanced, great mousse, fresh acidity, minerals, some toast, plaster, very long finish. 94

1988 Krug Vintage;
Pale golden colour, a bit lighter than the 90, elegant and small bubbles. Fantastic nose, flint, minerals, slight og oxidized apples, yeast, extremely complex and elegant, great balance. Fresh and playfull acidity, beautifull mousse, extremely long finish. For my palate at peak and drink the next 5 to maybe 10 years, but I am not the biggest fan of older Champagnes (or white Burgundies), too often to much butter and nutty aromas, but there are exceptions. This, perfection at 98.

1985 Krug Vintage;
Pale golden, a bit fewer bubbles than 88, but might be the glass. Much lighter nose, minerals, some apples, great acidity, elegant mousse and body, complex and balanced. Very long finish, but the shortest of the five. 93

Four Champagne's of 95

1995 Krug Vintage;
Almost golden yellow, minerals, leaner than the 96, but not lean, hints of vanilla, still a bit closed, very young. Very energic acidity, beautifull mousse, but gentler, the acidity and minerals playes the first violin now, some toast, yeast and rolls. Some oxidized apples, exceptional wine by any standard, very long finish. 95

1995 Pommery Cuvee Louise;
Light golden yellow, intence minerality, mussels, boiled crab, hint of wet wool socks, and people around the table does not agree if it is slightly corked. Nice acidity, the acidity could be more fun, but it might be the Krug before, the fruit seems very clean and elegant, but the finish is a bit short. I remeber better bottles of this. 88

1995 Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame;
Pale golden yellow. English toffee, butter, minerals, oxidized apples, some autumn leaves, intence, mineral and kelp on the cliffs. Nice acidity and mousse, apples, som burnt aromas (toast?), boiled crab again, hints of liquorice and barrel spices. Almost some hints of sherry in the aftertaste. 88

(This bottle was aquired on a ferry about 3 years ago, maybe it is not in perfect condition, but it was very good still)

1995 Charles Heidsieck Blanc des Millenaires;
Pale golden yellow. Intence aromas, toast, yeast, oxidized aples, burnt bread, and sweeter macaroon. Very elegant mousse, nice acidity, very clean finish. This wine is very young still, put away for a few years. 91

1996 Krug Vintage

1996 Krug Vintage;
A little deeper lemon yellow, minerals, toast, some vanilla, slightly closed at first, opened up beautifully, very young and refreshing. Some starting development. Great mousse and acidity, intence, balanced, complex and incredibly beautifull. Fantastic. Very long finish. Needs time. 97

Takk til Øyvind Haug som åpnet dette unikummet av en Champagne.

Champagne

Laurent Perrier Grand Siecle;
Probably 90,93 and 95 vintages. Pale yellow, small bubbles. Fantasic nose, oxidized aples, plaster, complex, mineral nose, quite slim. Elegant mousse, lean and elegant body, mature aples, pears and sweeter fruits, nice acidity, long, slender finish. 88

Krug Grande Cuvee;
This has been cellared for about 3 years. Pale golden yellow, beautifull small bubbles. Fantasic nose, bred crums, burnt bread, plaster, minerals, oxidized aples, fresh rainy morning, popcorn and butter. Great mousse and acidity, lovely balance, very elegant and still powerfull and complex. Very long finish. The three years has really done good. 91

1998 Veuve Cliquot La Grande Dame;
Pale golden yellow, tiny bubbles. Light elegant nose, some mature fruits, aples and plums. Elegant mousse, slightly sweetish, is it fruit or dosage?, elegant, but a little boring, not quite together, ok finish. Hopefully just a phase. 86

1998 Perrier Jouet Belle Epoque;
Unfortunatelly corked.
