05 Ganoux, Corton Renardes

2005 Michel Ganoux, Corton Renardes;

Pale ruby with almost watery rim. First only oak, after decanting and fifteen minutes something starts to happen, some red berries and anis, sour cherries and some floral hints, still the wood hangs on. Lean body, fresh acidity, body gets fuller with air (never wery full), good balance, not many tannins, refreshing. The oak on the nose, or rather dry wood is not showing in the mouth, ok length. 88

08 Mugnier Clos Marechale

2008 Mugnier, Nuits-St-Georges, Clos de la Marechale;
Bright ruby, wild strawberries, some spices and vanilla, even floral touch, leather hint, very pure and open now. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, refreshing and elegant, drink right now while young and seductive, or forget ten years. 91

2006 Felettig Chambolle-Musigny;
Bright ruby, red berries, vanilla and leafy notes mixed with spices. Good acidity, tannic grip, not all of them ripe, some green and herbal notes again, ok length. 84

After two hours and 45 min in decanter, left in a cool room (15 degrees C)
Strawberry jam, spices and cinamon, still brutal tannins and raw, but more nuanced, not necessarily better.... 85

08 Mugnier Maréchale

2008 Mugnier, Nuits-St-Georges, Clos de la Maréchale;
Bright ruby, some vanilla, elegant strawberries, anis and some leather. Very elegant texture, pure, good acidity, ripe tannins, balanced and very long finish. 90

89 La Tache

1989 Domaine de la Romanée Conti, La Tache;
Bottle nr 12957. B- B/C level fill, 3,5 cm blow cork. Ruby with thin brick rim, some sediments. Very fresh, strawberries, intense, Christams spices, sweet fruits. Good acidity, tannins starting to get around and being integrated, long and elegant, even mouthwatering. Long finish, but I never get it quite......93

Dear God....

2004 Arlaud, Charmes Chambertin;
Ruby, garnet, towards brick rim. Stable, meat, almost metallic nose. Lean, ok acidity, maturing, some plump fruit, simple, ok length. Not first growth material at all, barely low premier cru.... 82

2004 Domaine Leroy, Vosne Romanée;
Ruby, garnet rim and some sediments. Strawberries, vanilla, floral overtones, jasmin, roses, very complex. Fresh, lively acidity, very seductive, flirting, a joy to drink, complex and layered, fantastic length. 93

Meo, Clos de Vougeot

2004 Meo Camuzet, Clos de Vougeot;
Bright ruby, strawberries, vanilla and floral notes. Good structure, ripe fruit and tannins, elegant, good acidity very long. Day after, massive coffe aromas, bigger body, but not quite together somehow..... 88

04 Leroy Bourgogne Rouge

2004 Domaine Leroy, Bourgogne Rouge;
Bright ruby, such brightness of aromas, fantastic purity, strawberries and a touch of spice, earthy feel below, very fruity. Nice and fresh, herbal overtones, elegant, easy, nice balance and good length. 83

04 Montille

2004 Montille, Beaune Les Perrieres;
Bright ruby, garnet rim. Closed, some strawberries, floral, touch of roses and some vanilla. Good acidity, tannins not quite ripe, pure fruit, slightly hollow, woody finish. 84

Boring premier cru

2004 Domaine Arlaud, Morey-Saint-Denis, 1er Cru Les Ruchots;
Bright ruby, garnet rim. Meat and hung game, rustic and fur. Lean, fresh acidty, elegant tannins, ok finish, but not premier cru material....77

04 Musigny

2004 Mugnier, Musigny;
Bright ruby, garnet rim. More perfume, elegant nose, spicy, strawberries, peppery, some vanilla, very complex and tight knit. Good acidity, ripe tannins, very structured Pinot, grips, fantastic length. 92

1990 Clos Varoilles

1990 Domaine de Varoilles, Gevrey Chambertin Clos des Varoilles 1er Cru;
Bright ruby with brick rim, strawberries, touch of vanilla, slightly earthy notes, not too complex. Fresher palate than nose, feels younger, good acidity, pure, elegant, lots of strawberries, great balance, not too long, but fresh for it's age. 84

Beautifull Girardin

1998 Vincent Girardin, Charmes Chambertin Vielles Vignes;
Ruby with thin brick rim, almost leaps out of the glass, vanilla, red berries, cherries, leather, complex, perfumed, elegante jasmin, slightly spicy. Pure, perfect balance, perfect acidity, young feel, just starting to evolve slowly, very fresh and lively, so delicate and refreshing, very long length. 94

Hot Burgundy

2002 Lucien Le Moine, Vosne Romanée, Beaux Mont;
Dark ruby, served blind, this dark fruit and a lot of vanilla aromas did not get any of us to Burgundy at all. Eucalyptus, plums, blacberries, spices, I had a zinfandelish feel, but without the alcohol, blended with a elegant syrah. It was chocking to find out that this was a Vosne...... 84 for the wine, not as a Burgundy.

99 DRC Echézeaux

1999 Domaine de la Romanée Conti, Echézeaux;
Deep ruby, garnet rim, deeper, spicy, complex, touch of herbs, touch of coffee and leather, strawberries behind. Floral, almost perfumed overtone. Good acidity, pure but somehow lacks in playfullness, slightly big, slightly sweet, great length, with a vanilla touch. Needs a lot of time still. 91 for now.

99 Latricières-Chambertin

1999 Trapet Latricières-Chambertin;
Bright ruby, fantastic nose, complex, some pepper, spices, beautifull strawberries, extremelly elegant and noble, pure and just the perfect touch of floral above. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, could easily last a long time still, but it's also beautifull now, great balance and exceptional length. 96

Bright ruby, pink hue, red berries, touch of vanilla, anis overtones, plums. Very good acidity, fresh mouthfeel, elegant texture, ripe tannins, long length. 88

Corked

2004 Marquis d'Angerville, Volnay Champans;
Bright ruby, a whif of green and herbal, very closed, some red fruits, vanilla. Quite lively acidity, a bit thin, oak tannins show, not quite together, unfocused, is it the stage of maturity or the vintage? 83

2004 Marquis d'Angerville, Volnay Clos des Ducs;
Bright ruby, pink rim. Floral, jasmin, strawberries, slightly spicy. Fresh acidity, again tannic grip, starting to let go it seems, good fruit, still a bit on the lean side, needs time for the oak, slightly hollow finish. 85

88 Meo

1988 Meo Camuzet, Vosne Romanée;
Ruby with garnet rim, strawberries, vanilla and spices. Fresh, good acidity, some ripe tannins, mouthwatering, vanilla and too much oak ruins the beautifull fruit, youthfull still, only the colour giving hint of the age. 87
