Pale lemon yellow. Apples, minerals, fruity, floral, denser Preuses, faint almonds note, some citrus. Fresh acidity, fresh, fruity, apples, minerals, playful and elegant, nuanced, long. 94

Ruby with garnet rim. Floral, red berries, some spices, plums, figs, chocolate nose, surprisingly mature for the age. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fruity, red berries, some spices, plums, figs, seems mature again but long and persistent. 94

1983 Château Mouton Rothschild
Ruby, brick rim. Figs, tobacco, leather, cedar, plums, exotic, scented, cherries nose. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, leaner yet charming, mature, dried fruits, leather, long. Not the best bottle. 92

1998 Château La Fleur Petrus
Ruby. Plums, dark fruits, red berries, some truffles, anise, something earthy and leathery beneath nose. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, still firm and structured, slightly rustic texture, long finish. Has gained something since last bottle but not that charming to me. 93

1978 Marques de Murrieta Castillo Ygay
Ruby, brick rim. Blackberries, leather, liquorice, cherries and some herbs note nose. Fresh acidity, tannins gone, oxidative, plums and tobacco, cherries, bit sweet and sour, long. 92

1993 Château d'Yquem
Golden. Leaner apricots, peach and pineapples nose, some caramel. Fresh acidity, lively but leaner, lacks some intensity, refreshing, good length. 89

2014 Penfolds Bin 9 Cabernet Sauvignon
Ruby. Dark fruits, cassis, some vanilla and spices nose. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fruity, dark berries, spices, liquorice and vanilla, ripe, sweet notes, needs air to open up. 87
