Pauillac;
Pontet-Canet;
Feels a bit simple if very Pauillac typical and correct. 87
Pichon Comtesse de Lalande;
Fresh, lovely acidity, some herbs, a bit lean, lovely length. 90
Pichon Longueville (Baron);
Floral and herbs, somewhat green and pointy. 85
Pedesclaux;
Barrel and fruit, more body, quite elegant, pure if boring. 88
Lynch Moussas;
Closed, elegant nose, acidity feels extremely elegant, good length, again it can't excite, even after these words. 88
A stop at Barbecoa run by Jamie Oliver and Adam Perry Lang
Lynch-Bages;
Fresh, elegant, lacks a bit of fruit, nice, leanish, a bit short. 88
Haut-Batailley;
Elegant and Pauillac typical nose, anonymous on the palate. 85
Grand-Puy-Lacoste;
Floral over Pauillac notes, elegant if a bit lean, lovely acidity. 89
Grand-Puy Ducasse;
Elegant nose, complex, sticks out in the crowd, nice texture, long. 90
Duhart-Milon;
Again a lovely nose, leaner, slightly more tannic, it lets you know. 90
D'Armailhac;
Good, typical, elegant. 88
Croizet-Bages;
Nice acidity, elegant, a bit lean and maybe not the typical Pauillac structure. 87
Clerc Milon;
Elegant, but a bit boring, compensated by a really lovely finish, long. 89
Batailley;
Lots of barrel on the nose, more structure, tannins need time, will they overpower it? 87
Mouton Rothschild;
Pauillac nose, but lacks the exoticness typical of the châteaux. Some herbs behind. Softer texture, elegant, ripe tannins, more grippy feel than super sexy Lafite, still quite soft. Long. 93
Lafite Rothschild;
Layered, refined, complex, quite open, herbs and a touch of bell peppers. Good acidity, ripe tannins, drinking nicely, long. 94
Saint-Estèphe;
Montrose;
Mouthwatering both on nose and palate, lovely structure, nice length. 90
Lafon-Rochet;
Pure fruit but simple. 86
Cos Labory;
More ripe style, elegant, fresh acidity, lovely length. 89
Cos d'Estournel;
One of the more rustic 07's, structured and long. 90
