Four from Van Volxem
2012 Van Volxem Wiltinger Braunfels Riesling:
Pale lemon yellow. Apples, minerals and citrus nose, a bit compact. Fresh acidity, lively, fresh, bit raw at the moment, needs time, ripe and nuanced, good length. 88
2011 Van Volxem Goldberg Riesling Erste Lage:
Pale lemon yellow. Apples, minerals, tight nose, gives little. Fresh acidity, tight but lively, more rounded fruit and body, in a difficult state now, needs lots of air, or rather cellaring. 89-91
2011 Van Volxem Scharzhofberger Riesling Erste Lage:
Pale lemon yellow. Apples, citrus, floral and nuanced nose, bit tight. Fresh acidity, fruity, delicate, nuanced but also richer palate, long. Give it five years. 92
2012 Van Volxem Scharzhofberger Riesling GG:
Watery lemon yellow. Apples, lemons, minerals, slight floral note, elegant nose. Fresh acidity. Lively, refreshing, fruity and elegant, more open than last April, but still needs time or proper decanting, fresh and long. 93-94
