2012 Comte Liger-Belair La Romanée

The colour is as bright
As the last rays
From a setting sun
Over Santorini.
That colour no painter
Can paint.
It’s a vibrant
pale red
like a transparent
Ingrid Bergman
rose petal.

On the nose
Raspberries
As fresh as morning mist
One or two
Perfectly ripe strawberries
Join in.
Freshly grained
Spices
Almost some
Black tea
Bergamot
High note.
Subdued
Tender
Detailed.
Maybe
Some minerals
Delicate
Yet intense
Layered
Like a chest of drawers
Revealing secrets
For everyone
Drawer
You open

Tantalizing fruit
Meets the tongue
With a lively
Acidity
Playing hide
And seek
With pure
Red berries and
Soft tannins.
Refined
Waves upon waves
Tender
Filigree
Nuanced
Delicate
Divine nectar
Incredible length.
Goes on
And on.
Sorely missed
As it
Leaves
For Eternity
Securely
Placed
In Memory

  1. Great hommage to one of the most amazing wines I ever tasted. This wine is way too elegant and subtle to be chasen, I thought I was trying to catch a mirage. Yet it is focused and long, but soooo rich of nuances... Fantastic, amazing wine.
