Served blind. Pale lemon yellow. Minerals, butter, popcorn, detailed, nuanced, some citrus notes, ripe yellow apples nose. Fresh acidity, fruity, ripe, lacks a bit of punch, citrus, medicinal notes, good length. Feels pure. 88
1998 Gaja Sori San Lorenzo
Ruby, garnet rim. Intense tar and roses nose, anise, rich, vanilla and spices nose. Scented. Fresh acidity, fairly high of ripe tannins, rich, intense, leaner palate but intense flavours, liquorice, tar and roses, long. 93
1990 Gaja Barbaresco
Served blind. Ruby with garnet rim. Tar, roses, fruity, cherries, morellos, scented, fairly intense, elegant nose. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, elegant fuit, bit leaner in the finish but fairly nice balance for Nebbiolo, intense, long if a bit leaner 93
1961 Château Calon-Ségur
Low shoulder fill I'm told, ruby with orange rim. Leather, cassis, prunes, figs, slightly dusty, intense, layered and complex. Fresh acidity, few tannins, elegant, lovely texture, fresh and delicate for the vintage, nuanced, slightly drying finish, long. 94
2004 Markus Molitor Zeltinger Schlossberg Riesling Auslese*
Pale golden. Apples, fruity, youthful, light minerality and some floral notes. Fresh acidity, detailed, minerals and fruity, fairly elegant, good length. 92
