Two 2004's from Piedmont



2004 Vietti Barolo Lazzarito:
Ruby, garnet rim. Tar, roses, cherries, liquorice, intense nose, ever so slightly alcoholic, vlean red fruit with more air. High acidity, high of ripe tannins, fruity, intense, textured, more intense than a bottle five years back, heavy, rich, oak tannins bites a bit on the palate, long. Sweet but manages to be a bit refreshing. 92

2004 Antoniolo Gattinara San Francesco:
(Served blind) Ruby, garnet rim. Red berries, fruity, pure, touch of liquorice, slightly warm high notes, eucalyptus, VA. Fresh acidity, high of ripe tannins, slightly unbalanced, rich and massive, alcoholic and slightly unbalanced, heavy, warm finish. 87
