Fonterutoli, Mix 36 and more from Mazzei



2011 Mazzei Belguardo Vermentino:
Pale watery lemon. Some lemons, slightly tropical and yellow fruits. Minerals. Fresh acidity, creamy texture, lovely citrus palate, good length. 85

2011 Mazzei Belguardo Maremma:
(BiB) Deep ruby. Sweet nose, dark berries, ripe feel. Slightly herbal. Freshish acidity, easy going, ripe tannins, not that complex but balanced, good somewhat spicy feel to it. The second drinkable BiB this year! 81


2009 Mazzei Badiola:
Deep ruby. Some plums and spices. Freshish acidity, ripe tannins, good balance, a bit short. 82



2010 Fonterutoli Chianti Classico:
Deep ruby. Scented and slightly floral, dark plums and blackberries, ripe morellos. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, quite mouthwatering, fruity finish. Good length. 88

2007 Castello Fonterutoli:
Deep ruby. Some coffee, spices, vanilla, blackberries, layered and a touch of mint. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, balanced and fresh feel, slightly sweet finish, long. A bit oaky finish. 90

2006 Mazzei Siepi:
Deep ruby. Plums, blackberries, slightly scented and rich. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, rich but fresher palate, layered, a bit full by itself and not something you drink on the terrace, but lovely with grilled food. Long. 91



2010 Mazzei Zisola:
Deep ruby. Slightly herbal and cassis and sweet, ripe plums. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, slightly sweet fruit balanced by some spices to make it more interesting. Good length. 86

2008 Mazzei Mix 36:
About 4500 bottles made. Ruby. Rich nose, fresh red and dark berries, slightly spicy and scented. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, mouthwatering, fairly intense and layered. Refreshing finish, lovely length. 93
