Some inexpensive Burgundies


2009 Valette Mâcon-Chaintré:
Pale golden. Touch of honey and wax, oxidized apples and minerality on the nose. Fresh acidity, fresher palate, citrusy and minerals, good length. 87

2010 Merlin Macon La Roche Vineuse Vielles Vignes:
Pale lemon yellow. Apples, minerals, lemons and cooler citrus on the nose. Fresh acidity, fruity and lively, minerals and lemony, focused and refreshing, good length. 88+

2011 Maison En Belles Lies Maranges:
Bright ruby. Red berries, floral and slightly scented nose. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, leaner, fruity, elegant and slightly rustic touch, raspberries. 84

2008 Simon Bize & Fils Savigny-Les-Beaune Aux Grands Liards:
Deep ruby, garnet rim. Fruity, some plums, spices, strawberries and almost meaty. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fruity and textured, tannic backbone, good length. 88

2010 Drouhin Santenay:
Bright ruby. A bit tight nose at each pour in the glass that quickly opened to a red berries and slight spicy touch nose. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, elegant and fruity, on the verge on to lean, good length. 86
