Pale lemon yellow. Apples, lemons, some nuts, vanilla, butter and a slight toasty note on the nose. Fresh acidity, fruity, crisp feel, fresh and lively, lemony, long finish. 93

1989 Domenico Clerico Barolo Ciabot Mentin Ginestra:
Served blind. Dark ruby, thin garnet rim, lots of sediments. Liquourice, cassis, prunes and figs. Freshish acidity, ripe tannins, tight and tannic palate. Bit dry, edgy finish, alcohol. Big and rich. 89

1996 Château Mouton Rothschild:
Served blind. Deep ruby. Cassis, some plums, rich and ripe nose, leather, nuanced, refined, exotic, detailed and nuanced, superb nose. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, rounded, fruity, tight, refined but too young, amazing details yet again, a few years since ladt bottle, give it another ten plus years, very long. I nailed the producer, missed vintage by four years. 96

1986 Château Cheval Blanc:
Served blind. Ruby, very thin brick rim. Dark berries, detailed, exotic, floral, nuanced, refined, blueberries, plums, vanilla and mint touch, touch of bell peppers. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fruity, lovely balance, refreshing, lively and fruity, again detailed, very long. I guessed 95 Cheval Blanc. 96

2000 Antinori Solaia:
Served blind. Deep ruby. Rich. Massive, alcoholic, ripe, sweet. Vulgar nose. Freshish acidity, ripe tannins, fruity, leaner palate than nose, rich, bit warm, not fully balanced. 86

1966 Château Pichon-Longueville Baron:
Danish bottling. Very top shoulder fill, moist earthy smelling cork. Dark ruby with brick rim. Earthy, wood polish nose, figs and dades, leather with more air, bit rough nose. Fresh acidity, lean first but ads and ads, almost sweet. 90

1947 Château Pichon-Longueville Baron:
Schröder & Schyler bottle. Top shoulder fill, ruby with brick rim. Some red berries, liquorice, iodine, very mature nose. Leather and nuanced, detailed. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, somewhat fresher palate, bit lean but some figs and prunes, lean but quite focused, long, some iodine finish. You feel a touch the warmth of the vintage. 92

Ruby, garnet rim. Bit tired nose, drying. Tired. By far the worst bottle I've had of this.

Bright ruby, broad brick rim. Dusty, earthy, sous bois and figs. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, sweeter and rounder palate, liquorice and dades, dies off a bit, leaner finish. Dies off quickly. 85 at best

Slightly cloudy ruby, brick rim. Anise, liquorice, sous bois, earthy, some dades nose. Fresh acidity, ripe and few tannins, mellow and rounded, elegant texture but not that complex. 88 at very best

Towards golden, tiny bubbles. Oxidized apples, minerals, toast, coffee touch, some nuts. Fresh acidity, nuanced mousse but dies off a bit, rounded, quite rich, but also leaner, slightly edgy finish, yeasty, long. 90

1998 Ramonet Bâtard-Montrachet:
Golden with orange hue. Nuts, caramel and oxidized nose. Tired.

Ruby, brick rim. Tar and roses, fruity, scented, anise and cherries nose. Fresh acidity, high of ripe tannins, anise, fruity, lots of liquorice, but a bit short. Leathery. 90

1986 Château La Tour Haut-Brion:
Ruby, thin garnet rim. Scented, leather, anise, cedar, floral, cassis, detailed, some minerals, lovely nose. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, lots of liquorice, fresh, figs, red berries, some plums, detailed, rounded, superb and long. 95

1985 Château Trotanoy:
Ruby, garnet rim. Scented, detailed, flirting, minerals, graphite even, nuanced, blueberries, tobacco, gorgeous nose. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fruity, bit tight and somewhat lean, but refreshing and lively, long. 94

Straw yellow. Some apples, yellow fruity and some slight floral nose. Fresh acidity, fruity, rounded, more rounded than a bottle a month back, fairly lively, could be more nuanced. 89

2009 Ramonet Bourgogne Blanc:
Pale lemon yellow. Apples, some minerals, citrus, slightly flinty nose. Fresh acidity, fruity, rounded, ripe, some yellow plums, good length. 86

1985 Comte Lafon Meursault Clos de la Barre:
Pale golden. Lots of smoke and vanilla, seems to be a lot of barrels. Behind a lot of nuances, floral and even some tropical notes, flinty. Fresh acidity, fruity, bit ripe, elegant minerality, some sitrus, again that floral touch and slight tropical note. Just a bit short, but lovely. Served blind, I found both Meursault and Lafon but missed the vintage by fifteen years, I was on 2000. 93

2000 Vajra Barolo Albe:
Bright ruby, thin garnet rim. Tar, some roses, slightly balsamic, fruity, rich nose, liquorice. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fruity Barolo, tar and roses palate, more rounded, slightly rich, bit warm finish. 89

2004 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape:
Deep ruby, thin garnet rim. Rich, fruity, plummy, dark berries, liquorice and vanilla. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fruity, rich, ripe, plummy, bit alcoholic but not that bad. Served blind, I was on Southern Rhône at least in a collet and more elegant style. 91

Skål av Ingvild Tennfjord




Fornøyelig lesning og det er åpenbart en skrive- og fortellerglede, og evne, som ikke alltid er tilstede for de som startet med vinen og ikke med skrivingen. Lettlest og humoristisk går hun inn i en fremmed verden og møter mange gleder, en god del utfordringer og noen skuffelser. For en som har vært med på reisen tidligere er det lett å kjenne seg igjen, selv om jeg ikke var like fersk i faget når jeg gjøv løs på WSET Diploma. Dette er en krevende utdanning over to og ett halvt år hvor over halvparten av de som starter ikke uteksamineres. Og om det er vettugt å prøve seg på Vinkelneren og Diploma samtidig vet jeg ikke, men ambisjonene er det lite å si på. Ingvilds ambisjoner, både i boken og i hennes artikler ellers synes å være ett ønske om å folkeliggjøre vin og vinspråk, og all ære for det, men hun skaper selv distanse ved å beskrive vinsamlere som gudfaren og folk med batmobil og glødende visakort. Jeg er oppvokst med en far som ikke blunker på å gi femsifrede beløp for en støtfanger eller baklykt til en bil. Folk bruker mer penger på å lakkere gamle Golfer og Amazoner enn hva de kan forvente å få for bilen om den selges uten at noen tenker så mye over det. Men bikker man noen hundrelapper for en flaske vin er man snobb og strør om seg med penger. Men vin er ikke bare en drikk, det er opplevelser, på lik linje med å kjøre en vakker veteranbil en sommerdag. Og de beste sitter som minner, lenge, lenge etter at flasken er destruert. 

Mange av beskrivelsene rundt det å forstå vinterminologi er gode om noen ganger noe mangelfulle. Men når det blir mer detaljert dukker det dessverre opp en del faktafeil og småfeil som det burde være lett for en redaksjon å utelukke. Pessac-Léognan og Graves er helt utelatt under Bordeaux, selv om Domaine de Chevalier anbefales. Om jeg som nybegynner leser dette, så skjønner jeg ikke hvor den anbefalingen kommer fra når vindistriktet ikke er nevnt i artikkelen foran. Château Haut-Goujon er ikke en klassiker fra Libourne eller høyresiden, selv om den er klassisk i stilen.  Og koster virkelig en vintage champagne mindre enn en non vintage fra samme produsent? Gjennomgangen av vindistriktene er ekstremt overfladiske og jeg er usikker på om det står nok til å danne en nysgjerrighet hos leseren for å prøve. Jeg vet at ønsket er å få amatøren vininteressert og at jeg er langt utenfor nedslagsfeltet, men denne delen av boka føles uinspirert og som ett pliktløp etter de langt mer sprudlende beskrivelsene ellers. Jeg vil også si at det er temperanillo som sitter i førersetet i Rioja, ikke garnacha. 

Men det Ingvild får frem, er at vin viser seg ikke å være så lett om man ønsker å forstå vin, og ikke bare nyte den. Det er ett fag som må læres om man skal forstå fullt ut. Jeg vet ikke om det er hensikten å fortelle dette i boken, men det kommer allikevel frem. Frustrasjonen over å bli satt på plass av kunder på Vinmonopolet Vika selv etter masse studietid. Nå er det ikke alltid like lett å gi ett enkelt råd på en vin til en rett, for noen krydrer litt mer, har litt annen saus, eller noe annet i sausen og annet tilbehør og vips så passer ikke ett godt tips like godt lengre. Personlig synes jeg gode vinråd nesten blir vanskeligere og vanskeligere snarere enn lettere og lettere med erfaring, også fordi jeg legger merke til at hver gang fem personer sitter rundt ett bord, så er folk uenige om hvilken vin som passet best. Vin og mat har så mange nyanser og detaljer at det er få fasiter. Og Vikakundene er nok den kundemassen som kan mest om vin av alle polets kunder i Norge. Men jeg håper Ingvilds fortellerglede og entusiasme kan smitte over på leserne, slik at de tør og ønsker og utforske mer, og kjøpe bedre viner. Jeg er redd fagspråket er kommet for å bli her som alle i andre fag, og at man må ha forståelse for språket for å skjønne fullt ut. Det er fortsatt de som synes hvem de drikker vin sammen med er viktigere enn vinen, og en god vinkjeller åpner dører. Men det er også en økende interesse for mat og drikkekultur, og denne boken bør være en fin inngangsbillett. Når jeg sitter overfor Ingvild på smakinger ser jeg en nysgjerrighet i blikket og en leten etter ting i glasset, etter svar, etter mer kunnskap. Og om den nysgjerrigheten når en av ti lesere er det fantastisk.

Deep ruby. Rich, fruity, alcoholic and vanilla nose. Intense of cassis. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fruity, rich and warm, not fully balanced for my palate, long. 90

2010 Château Valandraud:
Deep ruby. Cassis, blueberries, vanilla, intense nose, deep and fruity. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fruity, bit biting texture, sweet at 15% alcohol, but at tjis very fruity stage it seems to balance more or less, not so shure when it settles down in a few years. 93 for now.

2009 Château Giscours:
Ruby. Anise, floral, cassis and fruity nose, slight herbal note. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fruity, leaner palate but more together than a dissapointing bottle at the IMW Annual Claret Tasting in November, long. 93

2009 Château Brane-Cantenac:
Ruby. Scented, floral, cassis, fruity and elegant nose, lovely. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fruity, lively, nuanced, refreshing, lovely wine, very long. 95


2003 Château Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande:
Ruby. Scented, fruity, leather, cassis, floral, yet again a nuanced 03 bottle. Freh acidity, ripe tannins, tighter palate than last bottle, surprisingly fresh for the vintage, nuanced, ripe and long. 93

2001 Vieux Château Certan:
Ruby. Fruity, nuanced, minerals, elegant and refined nose, detailed and flirting. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fruity, lovely balance, refreshing, quite open with air, long finish. 93
