La Fleur Morange started out in 1999, only making a few barrels.
The vineyards are situated on a special soil containing more iron than
what is usual in Saint-Emilion. La Fleur Morange only makes 5-6000
bottles a year with a further 7500 of it's second wine Mathilde, from a different
plot. These wines are rare to come by and even if on the rich
style, they manage something that few of the other "rich ones" manages,
to have nuances. Especially Mathilde is a steal at around € 15-20 if you
can find it. Yield is a low 19 hectolitres per hectar on average from
old vines.
