78 and 79 Leoville Barton, side by side.

1978 Chateau Leoville Barton;
Bright ruby, almost brown on the rim, lots of fine sediments. B level fill. Very closed and tender at first, after 15 minutes, it opens up greatly, cherries, bell peppers, some stable, dust and well hung meat, slightly perfumed, seductive. Very elegant and well tuned, lovelly fresh acidity, very long finish, tannins gone. 88

1979 Chateau Leoville Barton;
Bright ruby with brick orange rim, lots of fine sediments. B level fill, Not so losed, cherries, bell peppers, not as complex and eleant nose as the 78. More acidity, fine tuned tannins still, more cherry notes on the palate, more intence, but not as complex and refined and a bit thinner. 85
