Chateau Leoville Las Cases 99, 89, 88 and 83

1999 Chateau Leoville Las Cases;
Ruby with ruby rim. A bit thight knit, some dark fruits, vanilla, some chocolate, liquorice, some barrel spices?!, youthfull and very complex. Nice acidity, very refreshing, ripe tannins, cleans the mouth well, a bit hollow in the back of the mid palate, but great length and balance. Needs time, and I hope the barrel flavours will go into the wine soon......89

1989 Chateau Leoville Las Cases;
Ruby with brick rim. Hints of cedar, bell peppers, cassis, expencive leather, very complex and beautifull, some coffee. Beautifull velvety mouthfeel, tannins like snow falling, nice, fresh acidiy, great balance, elegance and complexity. Youthfull in it's expression. Great length, will keep. 94

1988 Chateau Leoville Las Cases;
Ruby with brick rim. Some cedar, blackcurrants, more green notes, liquorice, blackcurrant leaves, elegant notes of chocolate, leather and cinamon. Nice acidity, ripe tannins, somehow lean after the 89. Ok finish. 90

1983 Chateau Leoville Las Cases;
Ruby with garnet rim. Some cheese, leather, dark fruits, a bit closed, like a Turner in fog, toned down. Nice acidity, ripe tannins, nice balance, fresh finish. I cannot get it to tell it's secrets, best guess 88
