2005 Kistler, Kistler Vineyard Cuvee Cathleen Chardonnay;
Bottle 3013 of 6180, Light gold coluor, slightly warm nose with sweet fruits, yellow plums, vanilla and ligth oak toast. Fresh minerality underneath and slightly perfumed. Medium fruit and body, fantastic intensity, really complex, great mix of sweeter fruits and a dry feeling minerality, a truly marvelous combination. 94
2006 Copain Cerise Anderson Valley Pinot Noir;
Ligth ruby colour, light raspberry and fresh fruits, slight vanilla, hints of coffe and spices, extremely clean fruit for an American Pinot. Beautiful acidity, great fruitiness, some oak tannins but hardly noticable, really elegant, grat balance and long fresh aftertaste. Lacks a bit in complexity, that is all. Very good. 87
When I say clean fruit for an American Pinot it is because there was pure wild strawberries, not jam, and the oak use was much more burgundian. I do not think I would have been in the US if this was served blind.
2002 Sine Qua Non Mr. K, Noble Man California Chardonnay;
Amber colour, intense botrytis, intense nose, leaps out of the glass, apricots, vanilla, raisins, smells almost like a mature riesling TBA, but less fresh. Intense sweetness, medium + acidity (maybe higher, I do not know how much residual sugar it is in this one), and the acidity cleans perfectly, some caramel, very long fresh finish, beautifull wine and the best sweet chardonnay I have tasted. 94
