Some bottles have quite another personal history than others. This one was bought at the producer, put on the back of the rentet bicycle (not Broadbent's), and was with me while cycling from Wehlen, over the river to the bottom of Wehlener Sonnenuhr, then through Graach, past all the vineyards untill we (the bottle and I) stopped below it's vineyard and went into Älteste Weinstube where I normally stay in Bernkastel. It was then brought back by plane to Norway, not quite as romantic.
1997 S.A.Prüm Bernkasteler Graben Riesling Spätlese;
Golden colour, quite tender, some parafin and petroleum and then very ripe apples and minerals like schistes on a rainy, fresh day. Good acidity, some tropical canned fruits, lots of fresh apples, lime and pineapples. Starting to mature, but will undoubtedly last longer. Long finish. 85
We had a good trip together and departed as friends, the memories lingers on.
