Bordeaux tasting November 7th at B&R

1999 Château Couhins Lurton blanc:

Pale golden. Honey, beeswax, touch of grapefruit and lemon peel. Fresh acidity, waxy texture, have shed the barrel notes of youth. Fairly lively finish. 90

2008 Château Brun:
Ruby. Fresh nose, blueberries, vanilla and a very small touch of tea. Red berries. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, soft texture, fruity but refreshing. Good length. 86

2009 Château Brun:
(magnum) Deep ruby. Rich nose of plums, blueberries, sweet licorice. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, quite fresh for Right Bank 09, rounded and good length. 87

2001 Château Potensac:
Deep ruby. Cassis, leather, tiny whiff of cedar and vanilla. Just starting prunes. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, elegant texture, starting to mature but will keep konger. Good length. 88

1999 Domaine de Chevalier rouge:
Ruby, garnet rim. Cedar, minerals, ever so slightly flinty under cassis and red berries. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, very elegant texture with a few hours of air, refreshing. Long finish. 91

1989 Domaine de Chevalier rouge:
Ruby, garnet rim. Some figs, prunes, minerals with elegant cassis, slightly floral and redcurrants. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, mouthwatering and almost transparent structure. Quite seductive, drinking lovely now and will keep. Long. 93

2001 Château Palmer:
Deep ruby, garnet rim. Scented, cassis, violets, some leather, flirting and quite seductive nose. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, superb texture, refreshing, and long. Has finesse. 93

1997 Château Clerc-Milon:
(magnum) Deep ruby, garnet rim. Scented with cassis, leather, starting pencil shave and cedar. Strawberries and redcurrants. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, a little bit tight still, tannins are there, needs decanting and, at least from magnum, will benefit from another three to five years of cellaring. Ever so slightly vegetal finish. 90

1982 Château Mouton Baronne Philippe:
Unfortunatelly corked.

1989 Château La Croix de Gay:
Ruby, towards brick rim. Figs, earthy, hung meat. Mature nose. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, soft and mellow mid palate, ever so slightly drying finish. Smoked ham. Drink soon. 88

1989 Château Suduiraut:
Golden with amber hue. Rich nose, nuts, dried apricots and raisins. Fresh acidity, creamy texture, excellent palate, and again lacks the bitterness of some bottles. This has been one of the wine stalkers this year with five or six bottles tasted, and this was one of the two very fresh ones. Lively, orange peel, long and elegant finish. Late Château release bottle. I think its starting to come around. Will last thirty+ more years. 94

1976 Château Coutet:
Golden. Apricots, some wax, honey, slightly smoky minerals. Fresh acidity, lemony waxy palate, almost creamy texture. Lovely finish. Long and elegant. 93

1942 Château Sisqueille Rivesaltes:
Orange with red hue. Figs, raisins, nuts, honey, plum stones and white chocolate. Fresh acidity, very elegant, not too intense but refreshing and mature. Christmas spices. Long. 93
