Bruno Paillard's daughter visited Norway about two weeks back and I was able to taste four excellent wines from their range. One thing I love about the Bruno Paillard Champagnes, are the fact that one knows the date of disgorgement on the bottle.
Bruno Paillard Première Cuvée Brut:
(Disg. Jan 2012) Pale golden, tiny bubbles. Apples and a bit of yeast and autolyses. Fresh acidity and mousse. Long finish, refreshing. 90
1999 Bruno Paillard Blanc de Blancs Brut:
(Disg. Apr 2011) Pale lemony yellow, tiny bubbles. Minerals, apples and yeast behind. Fresh acidity, towards intense mousse. rich palate but leaner lime finish. Elegant and crisp. 92
2002 Bruno Paillard Assemblage:
(Disg. Jul 2011) Pale lemon yellow. Apples, lime and minerals. Touch of yellow fruits. Fresh acidity, towards intense mousse, citrus and crisp and flinty minerals. Needs time for me, long. 93
1996 Bruno Piallard NPU Grand Cru Brut:
(Only 6000 bottles made) Pale golden, tiny bubbles. Apples, yeast and minerals. Touch of smoke and almost chalky. Rich palate, fresh acidity and superb mousse. Lovely balance, very together and a slightly bitter mineral and apply finish. Very long indeed. 96
